Well, we departed our mooring in the lee of Nevis Peak on Sunday morning with reefed mainsail and reefed genoa but as we started to clear the end of the island, it became obvious that we would be struggling to make Montserrat in one tack and we saw wind up to 27 knots so we decided not to put both ourselves and the boat through unnecessary stress and instead turned around and headed back from whence we came.  I think it was a wise decision, not only for the passage there but also because the guidebook reports that the anchorage in Montserrat can be rather rolly in winds over 20 knots which is what we have been seeing over the past couple of days.  It looks like tomorrow the wind will drop back into the teens so we plan to head out first thing in the morning.
