We chose the name Mazu after a Taiwanese sea goddess revered as a protector of sailors and fishermen.  It seemed appropriate because she was built by Queen Long Marine in Taiwan.  We hope that if we look after her, she will in turn look after us.

A Hylas 46 is a cutter-rigged sloop, designed by German Frers with offshore sailing in mind. I think it best to refer to reviews such as those referenced below for more information about why she makes a good offshore boat:
