Our delayed departure (due to generator issues) has, as Chris Parker predicted, cost us in terms of sailing conditions. Having resolved the generator issues late on Monday, we were loathe to depart Bermuda in the dark so elected to try to leave as early as we could yesterday. By then the rain had cleared up so, unlike the other Salty Dawgs, we departed in sunshine with mainsail up going through the cut and had very pleasant sailing conditions (initially around 16 knots, then dropping to 8-10 knots) on a fetch. However the wind died overnight so we have mostly been motor-sailing using low engine revs since midnight through this morning. There is a fairly stationery low north of us that is responsible for these light conditions which are likely to persist most of our trip. At least Timing moves more easily in light conditions compared to Second Wind.

Otherwise, life onboard Timing is pretty good; water tanks have been filled, thanks to the water-maker. We had to don shoes and socks last night for the first time since November due to the chilly conditions, which actually made for a pleasant change. Mike and Jerry are great to have onboard and sure have contributed to the running of the boat in almost every way imaginable, including in the galley. This morning Jerry treated us to a creation of fried bread with the middle cut out where he fried an egg for breakfast…. Yum!
