IMG_20160531_193000Our first stop after leaving Little Creek was Fishing Bay, Deltaville, some 44 nautical miles away.  It was strange to be back to just two of us onboard but we certainly enjoyed the relief from stress associated with being offshore and the required total independence.  We had a good sail for the first couple of hours, albeit in dank, damp, grey weather, but then the wind died so we motor-sailed for the remainder of the trip.  With still wet weather, we weren’t tempted to go ashore so instead had an early night and slept well in the calm conditions.

Next morning (Memorial Day), we set off early (for us) for Solomons, about 61 nautical miles further North.  Weather was again very grey and damp and the wind, although southerly, wasn’t enough to let us make it to Solomons before nightfall so we again motor-sailed.  There we rafted up with our friends from Worton Creek/Spring Cove, ET and Joanne onboard ‘Freya’ and Tom and Chris onboard ‘Spring Fever’.  It was so good to see them again, good company, good food and a good place (even more so when the rain finally stopped the following morning and the sun came out).  We all stayed a couple of nights; they enjoyed a walk around town after helping us with a couple of maintenance tasks, while we were happy onboard cleaning up a bit after our passage….. but we did manage to join them for a drink at the Tiki Bar (photo).

Now we are in Annapolis but what do you know, we clearly were being stalked on our way here. Tom and Lorna phoned us when we were approaching Annapolis to let us know that they were in Annapolis so we picked up a mooring next to them, close to town.  Then Joe, who had been tracking us our whole trip, also turned up, having done a days work visiting clients in the area and just in time for ‘Happy Hour’ onboard Timing.  Too bad Julie wasn’t there too but we will make sure we catch up with her before too long.  Lots of catching up followed by a bit of dinner onboard, consisting of 3 different left-overs plus some yummy shrimp that Lorna had.  Isn’t it great to be amongst friends who just take you the way you are?

So, now we are trying to check off a few items on our ‘to do’ list such as making doctors appointments, getting the water maker serviced (Clark pump needs new seals, amongst other things), find a replacement glow plug for the generator, etc, etc.  Sometime soon we will have to tackle the next head that has decided to be uncooperative. At least we have 2 more that are fully functional…

So, what are our plans from here? We have to be in Baltimore on Monday but could spend the weekend either in Annapolis and/or stop for a day on the Magothy.  At least now we have replenished the provisions so are free to go where we please.
