img_1005The past week and a half has been busy, a little emotional at times but with some fun times as well.  Second Wind was the focus of our attention, prepping her for launch on the 16th, bringing her to Penns Landing Marina from Nanny Cay, bending the sails, cleaning and polishing her in preparation for the sea trial on the 22nd.  She behaved well on the sea trial, so with some annoying final negotiation, the deal was signed and as of today, we are back to owning only one boat, which is a huge relief.  Her new owners have two young children and have aspirations to take off into the blue yonder.  We wish them luck.

We did take a break last Friday to attend the Salty Dawg Arrival party here at the Bitter End Yacht Club and were very glad we did as so many boats were still around. It was good to reconnect and hear how other boats fared on their passages south, as well as enjoy the rather impressive buffet that was laid on.  Some large vessels are currently in North Sound, including the Maltese Falcon (only $400-440,000 per week to charter) that can be sailed with one person with its three unstayed carbon fiber, square-rigged, masts. The sails furl on tracks into the masts; amazing.

We returned to North Sound yesterday, Thanksgiving, following an exciting sail. This morning we attended a seminar on the proposed SD rally to Cuba in April. This evening we are off to ‘happy hour’ at the Fat Virgin, where we may also indulge in chicken roti, a local favorite.
