For those following our excursion on yellow brick, you will know already that it’s become a bit of a struggle to make any headway towards Tortola.
We seemed to have a hiccup with the last blog, and don’t know if it was posted. Suffice to say, the plan to head east to find more favorable trade winds and avoid being swept west is only marginally effective, as we have less seasonal head winds that don’t seem to be changing, and as the winds become lighter, it gets harder and harder to get south east. A few sharp squalls last night helped us along, and provided some excitement, but by mid morning, the winds were dropping again.
So Monday’s tea bag rationing shock was only a harbinger of things to come, and diesel is now firmly at the top of the ration list.
Listening on the radio to other boats around, it’s on everyone’s mind, and we all seem to be making slow passage under sail, zig-zagging towards the Rum Punch, hopefully by the weekend!
But the sky is blue, the breeze warm if light, so where could be nicer? We are enjoying the journey, and only occasionally reviewing progress to our destination.

Had another look at YBR tonight. The wind has taken a scunner against you and I can feel the frustration. Your tack east looks good but 3 knots is getting you nowhere. I will check the Grib files tonight and see where you are in the morning. I hope to see you at least close hauled south by breakfast

Nov 13. I see you are headed south again, but in irritatingly light winds. You seem to be stuck in a (not very low) low, with light cyclonic winds with a southerly preponderance. I imagine the seas are a bit uncomfortable. From what I can see at the moment from the Grib files, the ENE trades will not re establish until Sunday. Hope you have books to read and that fights do not break out over the tea bags.
