With 24 hrs to go, and the clock ticking, the wind inched its way round to the east and we started to move in the right direction. We spent the day calculating our distance to time and it was touch and go to finish by midday. But after dark, the wind came through, and we picked up speed. The sensation of flying along at 7 knots in pitch black darkness under full sail is amazing.
So at 06:59 we crossed the finish line, having made up 5 hrs overnight. Perfect timing, the sun just coming up, and the lights from Tortola the first signs of land in almost two weeks.
Andy, Mia and the crew from the Rally Office were on the quayside cheering us in, and handing over the much anticipated rum punch, delicious at ten o clock in the morning!

So, we made the party and the prize giving on Saturday night, sitting on the beach, and cheering in a few more boats that are still out there working their way home.
Imagine our delight and surprise to get third place in the race !! Now that we did not expect.
Land as a special bonus, We also won the navigator award for our commitment to getting at least one celestial fix right!
Now, it’s laundry day in Nanny Cay, sitting in Genneker Cafe, with a cool drink, Bob Marley on the stereo, and just chillin’

I’ve been anxiously awaiting your arrival. I saw that you must have got into port yesterday am ahead of schedule. But the boats were all bunched up in Nanny Cay. However, Yellow Brick has that nice slide feature so I could see when you arrived in port. Congratulations!!!!! Well done.
(I can almost taste the Pusser’s Painkillers and feel the trade winds)

Congratulations on what sound like a wonderful trip. As chance would have it we have been in Barbados but left just as you arrived in the BVIs.
Look forward to future posts and hope we can meet up next year.

It seems to be taking you a long time to get round to Cane Garden – though we suppose that taxi rides don’t show on your tracking! Anywho we’ll see you there in a while and probably for a while.
Congratulations – we certainly look forward to learning celestial navigation!
