We work hard for our pleasures here in the BVI. It took us a full hour to move over to Jost Van Dyke this morning (Dec 29th). Initially we were doing about 6 knots under genoa alone (too much effort to hoist the main for such a short trip) but then the wind dropped to about 6 knots so the iron sail brought us into Great Harbour. While the main intent of coming to Great Harbour was so that Scott and Sonia could get a taste of what Foxy’s has to offer, that hasn’t happened …. yet. Instead, we took the dinghy over to White Bay, which is another most beautiful beach. Sue and Ash came with us and we met up with Kim, Marinez and their friend, Dave … so what else could we do but enjoy a few drinks and their good company at the infamous Soggy Dollar Bar where the Pain Killers were originally invented. Later on some of us swam and others took the dinghy over to the other side of the bay that is home to Ivan’s Stress Free Bar (not that we partook of any further libations). Instead, we sheltered from the rain squall that came through. White Bay is well worth a visit! Further rain after our return to Great Harbour put a damper on our intended visit to Foxy’s. Hopefully in the morning, we’ll at least get to look around a bit before we head out to North Sound / Bitter End on Virgin Gorda.
