Having listened to the forecast this morning, we decided to get on the move again. While there may still be some squally weather in our region of the central Bahamas, no thunderstorms are expected. It is still mostly overcast but we have seen some sun and a few dark clouds here and there. In fact, we tracked one of the smaller dark clouds on the radar earlier on today and found that it was heading straight for us. We had plenty of time to be able to alter course to avoid it but instead, Howard wanted to see what winds we would experience. The wind only topped out at a mere 15 knots but it came with heavy rain and lasted only about 15 minutes. It was the best wind we have had all day; the engine is getting another work-out today. The radar will be quite handy at night so we can keep an eye out for rain squalls and hopefully don’t have any surprises.

We are currently passing between Little San Salvadore Island and the East end of Eleuthera. The depth just jumped from over 3000 ft to around 70 ft in the space of less than a mile. We will need to round the western end of Eleuthera to tuck into the protected bay on Royal Island. Out current ETA is around 10AM.

Interestingly, a short while ago, we were hailed by a border protection vessel (somewhat unexpectedly) who checked our departure and intended destination, whether or not we had checked in and who the captain was. Interesting.
