We wondered at our wisdom of doing boat improvements and maintenance during the hot July and August summer months on the Chesapeake. Our window air conditioning unit (which fortunately wasn’t buried too deeply in our storage unit) made it bearable, especially during the 6-7 weeks when the boat was on the hard. Encouragement and help from our friends made it all feasible and a rewarding experience.
Some of the tasks completed include stripping and revarnishing the toe rails with umpteen layers of epoxy based varnish, which we hope will stand up to the harsh Caribbean sun better than the Epiphanes varnish we previously used. The attached photo shows Howard repainting the boot stripe….. and I finally finished making curtains for all the portlights (yea).

Oh goody, the blog is back up – the grown-ups’ answer to “Where in the World is…”. Watched your progress down the Chesapeake – you’ve picked a good time to move on..the cooler weather is a tad early this year.
Btw have sent private mail for your sartorial amusement…:-)
