Although we have been living on Timing for a while now, it was only really today that we finally sailed her on our own.  Up until now we have been too busy getting her prepped and finalizing the repair work on SW. The weather recently has also not been conducive to sailing, either the wind has been on the nose, so we opted to motor, or else the wind has been been a bit too strong (25+ knots) and squally/rainy for us to learn the systems without fear of breaking something.  Today the wind was around 10 knots out of the east (of course) and we wanted to head west to Road Town for a brief stop and then return to Fat Hogs Bay so conditions were perfect for trying out various points of sailing.  She performed well, doing over 6 knots close-hauled. As you can see, Howard relaxed into it rather quickly…..  She is a remarkably easy boat to sail, given that one needs to be rather cautious when using the powered winches to avoid using too much force.  The question is whether or not we will miss the workout we had on Second Wind when changing the sails…

The last photo of Timing on a mooring was taken in The Bight, Norman Island during our first trip on her out of Nanny Cay.

Hopefully tomorrow we will wend our way towards St Thomas after Dave checks out the charging systems on Timing in the morning.  It seems the generator isn’t charging the way it should.
