Hope's and Howard's Sailing Adventures

Atlantic and Mediterranean Cruising on board Lady M

Foxy’s Taboo and Kelly’s Cove

The past couple of days have been spent exploring a couple of new (to us) anchorages  and provisioning on our way to Nanny Cay Marina for the scheduled repairs to begin tomorrow.  We had a good sail from North Sound to Diamond Cay on Jost Van Dyke, with winds ranging from 8 knots up to about 23 knots.  We had initially been tempted to try flying our spinnaker in the.. Rainbows and more trails

We have now trekked almost all of the trails around the Bitter End and just had to share yet another fantastic view.  This time we did the Rock Terrace trail that took us over to Deep Bay and then up to the new marina at Oil Nut Bay that is still under construction.  Most of you will recognize Saba Rock framed by a full rainbow that unfortunately I couldn’t capture.. A Brief Visit to Anagada

Having enjoyed a few days anchored off Prickly Pear Island, moving across North Sound to Leverick But ay so we could make use of their laundry facilities, yesterday we decided to head off to Anagada with Kim and Mehrnez.   There was a break in the “Christmas Winds” so it was a good time to go.  We had a fabulous fast broad reach there so we made speeds overground of.. Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all our friends and family.  If you have a magnifying glass you can see our boat somewhere in the mix in the photo top left. The top left photo is of North Sound, Virgin Gorda, where we have spent the last few days. Top right is of Biras Creek (resort is bankrupt), Deep Bay, and Oil Nut Bay. The lots and the houses in the latter.. Read More

Happy Holidays

I know it’s a little late but I hope all who read this blog are enjoying festive seasonal activities and special times with family and friends.  This is our second Christmas in the Virgin Islands but it felt rather strange without our two much loved children who are kids no more.  The photo of the Christmas tree and gingerbread house (with a few missing edible chocolate kisses) was taken on.. New Batteries

In response to the many comments on our last post (thank you all), I thought it was about time I updated everyone on our progress, sorry for the gap.  The good news is that our 4 new 8D batteries arrived and were installed today.  We enlisted the help of Kevin from MikMak Marine Services as there was no way Howard and I could have managed them on our own without.. Meeting up with Family and Friends

We met up with Roger and Gay in Benures Bay on Norman Island on Sunday, where we anchored and had a very pleasant couple of days enjoying some good snorkeling (some with the aid of the Sub-Wing), good company and good shared meals onboard.  They had been lent a new, as yet unnamed, 45 foot Moorings boat (pictured) because their own was not yet ready to release to them after.. Full Moon at Trellis Bay and Thanksgiving

We ended up picking up a mooring at Marina Cay on Wednesday, which is just across from Trellis Bay but had the advantage of having a bit more breeze and being less crowded.  The bottom photo was taken from the Marina Cay Hotel looking towards The Dogs and Virgin Gorda prior to us sampling a Pain Killer at the Pussers bar (somewhat overpriced at $9 each).  The other two photos,.. Back in North Sound

Having completed our tasks in Red Hook, we departed Friday afternoon to spend the night in our much loved Francis Bay on St John where there was less of the northerly swell and a beautiful tranquil bay …. And because Howard has a National Parks card and is over a certain age, moorings are great value at $7.50 per night.  The next day we cleared back into the BVI in.. Read More
